survey on manga influence on local comic scene: lets ask the PERGHians!

The first part of the interview, is to randomly ask comic activists (bole ke consider activists ek?) from PERGH community. dunno what PERGH is? come and have a visit to the website :) I randomly ask these guys on what do they think of the local artists who adapted manga style in their work. there are many other feedbacks that I got from these guys, but the one I documented is consider the important ones lar. the rest were just spams and merepek2 stuffs. haha

general topic to study: comic studies

I have long decided since the first year of my study to do a comic research. In Malaysia, comic studies are not so popular among researcher, probably because our society does not acknowledge its importance and the role it plays in our culture. so Im going to be one of the minority and study the thing I love most! comic rules!

In the comic page above, I talk about how Prof Muliyadi Mahamood had somehow 'jumpstart' the introduction part of my paper. his points on the influence of 'Japonism' ie manga had on local comic scene helped me a lot in understanding how manga first came to Malaysia. I also like the 'tone' prof muliyadi use in his writings, he is not biased towards any side, he just write for the sake of documenting. His book, 'Dunia Kartun' is informative and plus, there are comic strips in every page. How cool is that?

documenting data: Scott Mccloud style!

Having a hard time focusing on a certain topic. sometimes your too ambitious, or sometimes your just plain clueless. Theehee.
